Technical diving courses in India

You do not have to leave India to learn technical diving. I teach the full path here, from sidemount and Tec 40 through trimix to 100 m and the KISS Sidewinder rebreather, in Pondicherry and Lakshadweep, with cavern and sidemount training in the caves of Meghalaya.

Taught by Donarun Das: TDI Trimix Instructor, KISS Sidewinder CCR Instructor, PADI Staff Instructor. Updated .

Where I teach in India

Pondicherry

Tamil Nadu coast

Every course I teach runs here, from fundamentals through trimix and CCR. Most courses start here.

With: Chakra Divers

Lakshadweep

Agatti and Kavaratti

Every course runs here too, on the deep walls of the Lakshadweep atolls. I made the deepest verified civilian dive in India here: 103 m on open-circuit trimix, in March 2026.

With: Ammathi Scuba, Lak Scuba, LakSea Adventures

Meghalaya

East Jaintia Hills

Fundamentals, sidemount and cavern courses, run alongside the cave exploration expeditions in the East Jaintia Hills.

Courses in India

Technical diver in sidemount configuration hovering in trim above a large orange sea fan on a reef
Technical

Tec 40 / Intro to Tech

3 days

The first step into technical diving: limited decompression stops, real gas planning, and the discipline shift that separates technical divers from recreational ones. PADI Tec 40 or TDI Intro to Tech.

Two technical divers over a coral-grown wreck, one in sidemount and one in backmount, lights on and bubbles rising
Technical

Tec 45 / Advanced Nitrox & Decompression Procedures

4 to 5 days

Genuine staged decompression to 45m: multiple deco gases, failure management mid-dive, and the discipline that comes from knowing you can't abort to the surface. PADI Tec 45 or TDI Advanced Nitrox & Decompression Procedures.

Three technical divers descending a shotline into deep blue water, two carrying stage cylinders
Technical

Tec 50 / Extended Range

4 to 5 days

Air and nitrox to 55m, the ceiling of air-range technical diving, where narcosis becomes a management problem rather than a background condition, and where the argument for trimix moves from theory to lived experience.

Sidemount technical diver hanging on an upline in clear blue water with stage cylinders during ascent
Technical

Trimix 60 to 75m

4 to 5 days

Normoxic and hypoxic trimix for the 60 to 75m range: helium gas planning, the narcosis reversal you have to experience to understand, multi-stage logistics, and the gas supply chain that makes trimix training actually work in this region.

Technical

Advanced Trimix / Road to 100m

5 days

Hypoxic trimix to 100m: multi-gas decompression management, expedition-level planning, and failure response at the depth where consequences compound fastest. PADI Tec 100 or TDI Advanced Trimix.

Diver on a chest-mounted KISS Sidewinder rebreather holding a DPV in blue water above a reef, corrugated loop hoses across the chest
Technical

Sidewinder CCR MOD1

6 to 7 days

CCR MOD1 on the KISS Sidewinder sidemount rebreather, for divers who understand that rebreathers kill at ten times the rate of open-circuit and want the training discipline that makes the difference. Expedition experience across caves, ocean, and deep walls.

Sidemount diver in deep blue water, single cylinder marked 38m clipped along the body, palm fronds silhouetted at the surface above
Recreational

Sidemount Diver

4 days

4 days, 3 long dives, 1 pool session: proper sidemount configuration, buoyancy and trim specific to sidemount, and the body mechanics that make it feel like it was designed for you.

Technical

Cavern Diver

2 to 3 days

Overhead environment training within the natural light zone: the psychological and technical shift that happens when you can no longer ascend directly. Anti-silt propulsion, gas discipline, line handling, and stress management for partially-overhead spaces.

School of yellow snapper passing through a coral-encrusted opening in a wreck
Technical

Advanced Wreck Diver

2 to 3 days

Penetration wreck diving to TDI standards: structure assessment, line discipline, zero-visibility exit, and the decision-making framework that determines when not to go in. Honest about what actually kills wreck divers.

Common questions

Can I learn technical diving in India?

Yes. Tec 40, 45 and 50, trimix to 100 m, sidemount, cavern and KISS Sidewinder CCR courses all run in India, in Pondicherry and Lakshadweep, with cavern and sidemount courses in Meghalaya.

Can I do a CCR rebreather course in India?

Yes. The KISS Sidewinder CCR MOD1 course runs in Pondicherry and Lakshadweep. Rebreather training is the core of what I teach, and you can do it without leaving India.

Where can I do a trimix course in India?

Trimix courses to 60, 75 and 100 m run in Pondicherry and Lakshadweep. Helium is arranged with the dive centre, and the gas supply is planned before the course starts.

Is there cave diving in India?

Yes, in Meghalaya. Cavern and sidemount training run there alongside the cave expeditions in the East Jaintia Hills.

Are there fixed course dates?

No. I do not run fixed training calendars. Dates are set around your travel and your current certification level. The schedule page lists the courses already planned.
