Every one of these came out of teaching, because something I needed did not exist. They are all offline first, because the places I dive have no signal and the moments you need them are the worst moments to discover that.
Three of them you can download today — Deco Room, DiveDex and the KISS Sidewinder Companion — each on both the App Store and Google Play.
None of them tracks you and none of them sends your dives anywhere you did not ask.
Deco Room
LIVEDive theory that works with no signal
The course platform, on your phone. Fifty-four chapters of technical and rebreather theory, the dive planning calculators, an emergency field guide, and a searchable reference library — all of it downloaded, none of it needing a connection.

DiveDex
LIVEName what you see underwater
A live marine-life field guide that runs on the phone itself. Point the camera at a fish, coral, nudibranch or crab and it names the species there and then — no signal, no account, nothing uploaded. It records what you saw dive by dive, turns each capture into a shareable ID card stamped with the place and date, and keeps a clean geotagged original ready to submit to iNaturalist.

An interactive three-dimensional KISS Sidewinder you can take apart. Every part tells you what it does and when it needs servicing, and the pre-dive and post-dive procedures walk you through step by step, highlighting the part each step is about. Your checklist runs and cell readings are saved.

Triton mCCR Companion
The same discipline, for the chest-mounted unit
The Triton built the same way as the Sidewinder app: a schematic-accurate 3D unit with the Kevlar bag, both counter-lungs, the horizontal axial scrubber, the removable cell chamber and the Monox display, plus the pre-dive build and post-dive care as steps that highlight the part they are about.

Landlubber
NEWESTPractise underwater compass navigation, on dry land
Walk the patterns with your phone as referee: it reads your heading, counts your steps, and draws the shape you actually walked. Navigation is the one dive skill that gives no feedback — a student swims a square, surfaces forty metres from the shot line, and nobody can say which leg went wrong. This gives the feedback back.

- Are there diving apps that work with no signal?
- All of them work offline. Deco Room downloads every chapter, the planning calculators and the emergency field guide; the rebreather apps run their checklists and keep their cell and scrubber logs entirely on the device. That is the point — the app you need on a boat is the one that opens with no reception.
- What do they cost?
- Deco Room, DiveDex and the KISS Sidewinder Companion are free. Landlubber is a paid app at ₹799 once it leaves beta. Deco Room course chapters and the reference library come with an enrolment on one of the courses; everything else in it is open to a free account.
- Which ones can I download today?
- Deco Room, DiveDex and the KISS Sidewinder Companion are all on both the App Store and Google Play. The Triton mCCR Companion is in review, and Landlubber is in beta — ask and you will get a build.
- Who makes these?
- Donarun Das, a TDI Trimix and KISS Sidewinder CCR instructor. Each app started as something needed on a working dive and not findable anywhere, which is why they are narrow and why they all work without a connection.
